LIFE: Learning In Faith Experiences

As is our faith community tradition, we will honor our Blessed Mother with a Procession on Sunday, May 4th, at the 10:30am Mass.  Our custom is that all of the young Parishioners are encouraged to dress in their “Sunday best” and participate in the joyful Procession to Crown our Blessed Mother.  The Procession will take place after Communion.

The May Crowning was featured at the most recent celebrations of LIFE.  Those present heard how this tradition started and how the personal experiences of participating in a May Crowning were in past years.  We were told that the whole month of May is traditionally dedicated to Mary in many cultures.  As May is considered the season of the beginning of new life (spring, flowers, etc.) and growth, this element of new life ties in with our Blessed Mother and the life of our Savior that she carried.  A statue of Mary is honored with a wreath of blossoms to indicate Mary’s virtues, virtues imitated by the faithful.  In preparation for our May Procession next weekend, make some time to spend with Our Mother and allow her to speak to your heart.  Do YOU have a story of an experience of participating in a May Procession and Crowning that you can share with a family member, friend, neighbor?  If so, please pass along this story, and other stories of devotions by e-mailing them to stlucyyouth@juno.com , which may then be put onto the website or shared in upcoming bulletins.

Next Sunday begins our final week of LIFE celebrations for 2007-2008.  Feel free to participate in Praying the Diversity of Pentecost on Sun., May 4 from 11:45am-2:15pm; Mon., May 5 or Tues., May 6 from 5:30pm-8pm. The time frame includes a meal.  All are welcome, just contact the Rectory if you are not a LIFE participant.  We will welcome guest speakers for the high school students and adults.  Charlie, Sheila, and Katie Collins will share their experiences of ministering to and serving the people of Nicaragua.

FR. ANDRE PATENAUDE, MS will hold a healing service at Our Lady of LaSallette Shrine on Sunday, April 27th at 2 pm.
