RE: LIFE - Faith Formation/Religious Education within the parish
Welcome to LIFE! LIFE (Learning In Faith Experiences) is the name of the Faith Formation or Religious Education program here at St. Lucy’s and is an opportunity for ALL members of our Parish to come together to share and grow in faith. This includes all people from pre-K through 100 years of age +; those who are single, married, divorced or widowed; extended families, couples, individuals; families with children in the Sacramental preparation program; ALL are WELCOME! LIFE is more than a program; it is a life-long, intergenerational faith formation process. LIFE gathers people (families, households and individuals) to learn about faith and faith-related topics while providing the setting to share what is learned, has been learned, and has been lived, while growing together in community.
As a Parish we are preparing to enter into our third year of LIFE. What a remarkable journey so far, and so unlike any other journey ever taken. Two years ago the transition from a “Traditional” or “Family Time” religious education program started: bags were packed, the travel map was plotted, and the journey began. Along our travels we encountered our fair share of bumps and detours in the road as well as having experienced many breath-taking sights and wonderful encounters (some expected, some not) along the way. We also recognized that some of the essentials that we had packed for the journey were still needed, while other items that we thought essential had to be let go. As a Faith Community, we continue to grow our journey of faith together; we celebrate life and LIFE!
Please take time to read the enclosed materials, and return the Registration Form to the rectory as soon as possible as the celebrations will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. A major change in the schedule this year is in December for which your household will need to choose between two options: participation in either A) a RETREAT experience on Sat., 12/13 from 12:30-4:30pm – OR – B) the regular LIFE celebration to be offered once ONLY on Tues., 12/9. Please indicate your December preference as well as your regular, monthly day preference on the enclosed 2008-2009 Registration Form. If you have any questions, contact Colette (Coordinator) or another Staff Member in the Office at 847-6153.
