The celebration of the Holy Eucharist at Mass is central to our Catholic Faith, it is the thing that binds us together as living members of the Body of Christ on earth. Man's first sin was committed against an infinite and eternal God, which means it would require more than any finite human reparation than man could give to fix it. In the mystery of the Incarnation, God became Man so that the infinite gap could be pardoned by an infinite sacrifice of the Son's love. God became man so that man can be close to God again, but now we can be even closer than we were before the fall. By becoming man, Christ sanctified the whole human race, and by making the perfect sacrifice He thus made it possible for man to see God "face to face" in the Beatific Vision in heaven. In the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass we can unite all we are to Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, as an offering of ourselves in love back to God. In the Holy Mass, God meets man, time meets eternal, and the angels and saints surround us in offering our love to the Father, who gave his Only Begotten Son in reparation for our sins and so He could show us just how much He loves us.
